In 2016, Shauna developed résumé writing by screen share as a unique alternative to her programmatic bespoke résumé writing process. It’s now so popular, it’s a process that’s been copied by other résumé writers looking to duplicate Bryce Legal’s magic!

Résumé writing by screen share is a highly flexible, highly engaging process focused on impact, value, and professional branding. More than a résumé critique and more than a résumé strategy, we use screen sharing to interview you and revise your résumé in real-time.

Résumé writing by screen share was initially envisioned for lawyers in a hurry, who had a relatively straight-forward career narrative to tell, or who simply needed a less expensive option than bespoke résumé writing.

However, we’ve refined the process, and it’s proven to be just as helpful for C-level or executive-track lawyers who just don’t want or need the full suite of bespoke career documents.

Because this is a pay-as-you-go hourly résumé writing service, lawyers have the additional flexibility to work with their expert for as much—or as little—time as they want.

Since résumés work best when they are targeted and individualized, our first work session often focuses on refining your goals and overall strategy before moving into the body of the résumé. We get as much done as we can during our time together. Most lawyers then sign up for additional works sessions to complete their draft résumés or to work on additional career documents like corporate board bios or cover letters.

Others find the interactive résumé writing experience to be the perfect option between “do it yourself” and hiring a professional résumé writer to create a bespoke résumé package from scratch. They feel comfortable using a single work session as a launch pad to complete their résumés on their own.

Yet others find a middle-ground, working on their résumés between sessions and sending updated versions before each new work session.

The résumé writing by screen share is more than a résumé critique. We’ll talk about writing strategies, your career narrative, and themes to highlight in the résumé. We don’t just strategize with you, we actually use screen sharing to interview you and revise your career documents with you, right there and then. We get as much done as we can during our time together. After your work session, we email you the edited document. ** Note to current law students: If you intend to use the résumé for OCIs, you’ll need to double-check that your career services office does not required a specific résumé format.

Sign up for as many additional work sessions as you’d like.

Most clients prefer to sign up for additional sessions until they have a complete draft; then they do proofreading and minor clean ups on their own. As always, we rely on you to fact-check your résumé.

How Résumé Writing by Screen Share Works

The process is simple:

  1. Send us your current résumé. For screen share appointments, we’ll need a Word .doc or .docx version. Since we find résumés work best when targeted, we’ll also ask you to tell us about your target industry, employers, and roles.
  2. Have an interactive work session with a true expert. Talk through your résumé critique, strategies, and questions. We’ll get done as much as we can in the time we have together to give you a more effective tool to help you reach your goals. In screen share work sessions, your expert will be re-writing and editing your résumé to help bring into out your strengths and career narrative.
  3. At the end of your screen share work session, your expert will email the updated résumé so that you can continue work on your own. Or sign up for additional sessions to continue working together.

How Much Time Do I Need?

It’s hard to predict exactly how much time any individual will want with their expert. However, based on clients’ experience, here are some minimum recommendations for typical résumés. As always, you decide whether to complete your documents on your own or sign up for additional sessions. (Again, while most attorneys use the screen share writing process for résumés, you’re welcome to use it for cover letters, letters of recommendation, or other documents.)

Fortune 500 / 1000 CLOs, GCs, C-Suite Lawyers, and Law Firm Equity Partners

For most projects, we recommend starting with a 90-Min or
120-Min session. You should expect several sessions.

Executive, Executive-Track, and Partnership-Track Lawyers

For most projects, we recommend starting with a 90-Min or
120-Min session. You should expect at least two sessions.

SMEs, Senior, and Mid-Level Lawyers

For most projects, we recommend starting with the 90-Min
or 120-Min session. Many lawyers will need a second session.

Junior / New Attorneys, and Law Students

For most projects, we recommend at least 60-Min. If you have a more complex story to tell or you want to work on a cover letter as well, then we recommend starting with the 90-Min session.
